Thermomix Oyakodon Recipe

Oyakodon literally means “parent and child” meat & egg rice in a bowl. It is a popular everyday dish in Japanese households. It is very easy to make this at home with your Thermomix.

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 100g rice
  • 3 TBSP of oil
  • 200g of sliced onions (julienne)
  • 250g of chicken thigh (skinless and boneless) in 3cm cubes
  • 2 TBSP japanese sake
  • 70g mirin
  • 40g of Japanese low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 100g water
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 very fresh whole egg (raw for decorative purpose/optional and omit in the absence of fresh egg)

What you would need

  • Butterfly
  • Simmering basket
  • Thermo Server


  1. Wash and place rice in simmering basket (pour water into the bowl until it just cover the rice by 1mm)
  2. Cook the rice for 18min / 100° C / speed 3.5-4 (25-30 min for brown/glutinous rice)
  3. Side aside the cooked rice in the Thermo Server or similar to keep warm while you cook the chicken next
  4. Place a bowl on top of the lid and using the in-build weighing scale function to weigh and prepare all the seasoning for the sauce – sake, mirin, soy sauces, sugar and water
  5. Place the oil in the mixing bowl and heat 3 min / Varoma / speed 1
  6. Saute onion for 3 min / Varoma / speed 2
  7. Attach the butterfly, add chicken and cook for 5 min / Varoma / speed stir / Reverse
  8. Add the seasoning sauce and continue to cook 10 minutes / 100 ° C / speed 1.5
  9. Place the cooked chicken and sauce onto a hotplate
  10. Add the beaten eggs over the chicken and cover to allow the chicken simmer for a few minutes
  11. Serve when the egg mixture appears semi cooked (but not totally cooked)
  12. Place the chicken, egg and onion mixture over a bowl of rice
  13. Optional – crack a raw egg in the middle of the bowl

  • 3汤匙 油
  • 200克 洋葱, 切丝
  • 250克 去骨去皮鸡腿肉,切成一口大小
  • 2汤匙 日本清酒
  • 70克 味醂
  • 40克 日本淡口酱油
  • 1茶匙 老抽
  • 1汤匙 糖
  • 100克 水
  • 3颗 蛋, 可生食的,打散
  • 1颗 生蛋, 可生食的,装饰用(不建议采用不够新鲜的蛋)

1. 将油放入主锅,以3分/Varoma/速度1加热。
2. 加入洋葱丝,以3分/Varoma//速度2烹煮。
3. 加入鸡腿肉块,以5分/Varoma//速度2烹煮。
4. 取一个碗放置在主锅盖上,在碗中称出清酒、味醂、淡口酱油、老抽、糖和水,调和成酱汁,加入酱汁,以10分/100° C/ /速度1.5烹煮
5. 将煮好的鸡肉和汤汁移入不粘锅中煮沸后,加入可生食鸡蛋液,盖上盖焖煮1 分钟,呈蛋液没有完全凝固的时候食用。碗中盛好饭,将鸡肉、洋葱和酱汁淋在饭上,最后在中间加入1 个可生食鸡蛋即可。
