Thermomix® Singapore – Bak Kwa (Sweet Grilled Jerky)

Bak Kwa (Sweet Grilled Jerky) is one of our favourite treats to eat during Chinese New Year! Tender and juicy with a caramelized glaze, this treat is packed with flavor and is perfect for gifting.

With a recipe so simple, there is no reason to purchase from shops anymore. Save your wallet, grab your Thermomix®, and fill your home with an aromatic experience this Chinese New Year! 🧧✨

Ingredients
500g minced meat (60% fat 40% lean ratio)
110g raw sugar
15g light soy sauce
20g oyster sauce
1/2tsp rock salt
45g honey
2tsp fish sauce
2tsp chinese rice wine
1 pinch ground black pepper

Preparation
1. Add minced meat, sugar, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, rock salt, honey, fish sauce, rice wine, and ground black pepper.


2. Knead for 2 minutes. Prolong time if needed. Transfer into a bowl and set aside.


3. Preheat oven to 160°C. Line a baking paper on a baking tray. Scoop out the mixture and use a spatula or rolling pin to spread a thin flat layer.


4. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. (adjust to 5/10 minutes if meat is rolled out thinner) Discard any liquid and cut the meat into squares (6cm x 6cm) using a pizza cutter.


5. Adjust the oven temperature to 230°C (grill if available) for 2 minutes. Flip meat slices and grill for another 1 minute. Repeat if needed slightly charred. Cool completely before serving. Transfer into a container for storage in refrigerator.
